DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 20th IBFRA Conference!\nThe bi-annual conference will bring together researchers, companies, policymakers, and members from civil society to discuss the future of boreal forests, the second most extensive terrestrial biome on earth.\nThe conference week will feature keynote speeches, parallel sessions on the sub-themes, networking opportunities and trainings. Friday 1 September is reserved for excursions, side events and project meetings.\n\nThe sub-themes of the conference are\n1) Understanding linkages between ecosystem processes and management\n\n\nEnvironmental impacts (water, climate etc.) of forest management\n\n\nSoil processes\n\n\nDrivers of the GHG fluxes in forest and peatland ecosystems\n\n\nProvision of ecosystem services (incl. non-wood products of forests), competition for carbon offsets\n\n\nManagement of urban ecosystems\n\n\n2) From data acquisition to knowledge creation\n\n\nData utilization in forestry application\n\n\n3D point cloud data processing\n\n\nGHG flux measurements (incl. EC and chamber measurements of gases and isotope analyses)\n\n\n3) Gameful forest interaction\n\n\nPlayful Augmentation of Forest Environments through Games\n\n\nClimate change engagement through game-based approaches\n\n\nMeaningful immersive nature experiences towards harmony with self and nature\n\n\n4) Decision support tools and solutions for sustainable forestry\n\n\nDecision support for different scales from land owners to business/industry and policy makers\n\n\nClimate change mitigation\n\n\nRisks of climate change driven disturbances (e.g. forest wild fires) and adaptation to them\n\n\n5) Science-policy interphase\n
